Sponsors

Sponsors create lasting connections to help people recover and truly thrive.

What is a Sponsor?

A sponsor is more than just a donor; it’s someone who steps in to rebuild lives and restore hope. Being a sponsor means making a real, personal connection with individuals, families, churches, or businesses hit hard by disaster. Sponsors walk alongside those in need, helping them journey from loss and devastation to stability and security.

Our sponsors are individuals, churches, or businesses that can not only bring financial support but also a compassionate presence. They are able to be personally involved, providing emotional support through calls and visits, and being able to connect in person with the recipients. They are the hands and feet of Jesus, offering resources, encouragement, and a true sense of community. And while the call is big, we’re here to help every step of the way.

Whether it’s a church partnering with a struggling congregation, a business extending a lifeline to another business, or families coming together to help a single family in need, every partnership plays a vital role. Together, we’re building bridges of hope and restoration—one need at a time.

What to expect

We believe that sponsorship with those in need is a powerful way to share Christ’s love and bring a lasting impact to lives and communities affected by disaster. If you’re considering becoming a sponsor, here’s what you can expect in this meaningful journey of connection and care:

Pray

Each story we share represents a real person, family, or community facing genuine challenges. As a sponsor, your first step is to read and pray over these stories, asking God to guide your heart toward the person, family, or business you are called to support. During this time of prayerful consideration, we also ask that you reflect on the commitment we’re inviting you to make. Pray about your capacity to meet the requirements of being a sponsor: reaching out to check on your recipient, working to meet their tangible needs, and if possible, make plans to visit them in person. This moment of prayer aligns your compassion, resources, and commitment with the specific needs God places on your heart.

Connect

Once you’ve chosen a recipient, we invite you to connect with them personally. As a sponsor, this is about more than financial support—it’s about building a genuine relationship rooted in faith and care. Begin by listening to their story, praying with them, and offering consistent support to demonstrate that they are not alone. This connection brings encouragement, hope, and a tangible expression of God’s love, forming a foundation for their healing and rebuilding journey. If, after your initial contact, you feel it’s not the right fit, simply let us know, and we’ll work to find another sponsor for the recipient.

Act

After forming this personal connection, it’s time to determine how you’ll act on their behalf. Whether it involves providing direct assistance, engaging your church or home group, or rallying other businesses and community members, your actions will have a lasting impact. Our goal is to cultivate bonds that extend well beyond immediate relief, fostering lifelong friendships and support networks that reflect Christ’s enduring love and compassion.

By embracing this role as a sponsor, you’re offering far more than just help—you’re building lasting connections that transform lives and serve as a vessel of God’s grace and encouragement. If you’re ready to sponsor someone, also know that we will be standing with you every step of the way.

Safety

At The Sponsor Project, building meaningful connections is at the heart of what we do. As you embark on your journey to form a relationship with a recipient, it’s important to keep safety at the forefront. We encourage everyone to take general precautions to ensure a positive and secure experience.

First and foremost, never meet someone you’ve connected with online alone for your initial meetings. This approach helps lay a solid foundation for a meaningful relationship. Additionally, be careful with your personal information—never share private details such as bank account numbers or other sensitive financial data.

If at any point you feel uncomfortable—whether due to a request for private information, a meeting arrangement that feels unsafe, or conduct that seems off—please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We take these matters seriously and will work with you to sever any connection that doesn’t align with our commitment to safety, integrity, and trust. Our priority is to support and protect everyone involved, ensuring your experience is both safe and impactful.
